Did you know that you can use FIND & REPLACE in EXCEL to change cell colors in a spreadsheet? This is how you do it!
GOOGLE DRIVE - PREVIEW BUTTON
Use the PREVIEW button in GOOGLE DRIVE to scroll through and view multiple documents in a folder.
GMAIL - LABELS
Did you resolve to organize your email this year? GMAIL LABELS are just what you need! You can even hide last year's LABELS for a fresh start!
You can hide Labels so that they don't appear in your Label List but they're not deleted. This can be done by clicking the down arrow next to the Label and selecting Hide in Label List. You can also do this by clicking on Settings and Labels. This would be a great way to organize in the new year. You could remove Labels from a previous year so that they don't clog up your Label List but you would still have them for reference.
NEW GOOGLE CALENDAR - SHARE WITH GROUP
It's so much easier with the NEW GOOGLE CALENDAR to SHARE with a GROUP because the NEW Google Calendar recognizes created Groups.
GOOGLE CALENDAR - NEW GOOGLE CALENDAR
GOOGLE CALENDAR has a NEW Look! I think you're going to love it! I do!
If you use certain words in the description of your event, Google has a picture for that event. For instance, if you use "breakfast", "lunch", or "dinner" Google will put a picture of one of those on your event. Google will also put a picture on the event if you use the name of the holiday (try Christmas and New Years Day!) or use the words "wedding", "bridal shower", "baby shower", etc.
GOOGLE CALENDAR - SHARE WITH LARGE GROUP
Need to SHARE your GOOGLE CALENDAR with staff or a LARGE GROUP of people? Here's a little trick! Don't type all of those emails!
GOOGLE SHEETS - DROPDOWN LIST
If you want consistent information in your GOOGLE SHEET, control what's entered in your Sheet by using a DROPDOWN LIST.
EXCEL - INSERT DROPDOWN LIST
INSERT a DROPDOWN LIST in EXCEL to control what's entered in your spreadsheet. I'm all about control - except in real life!
Inserting a dropdown list in Excel works best if you create your list ahead of time. I type the list on another sheet within the spreadsheet so that it's easy to access. If you need to edit your dropdown list, you can just edit the list on the other sheet and it will update the dropdown. You can even have multiple lists on the sheet if you have other questions that need a dropdown list. I also hide the sheet with the list so that it can't be accessed by other people. To do this, right click over the sheet tab and select Hide.
POWERPOINT - REUSE SLIDES
Add slides from another POWERPOINT to your presentation with REUSE SLIDES. It's a great hidden Tech Treat!
WINDOWS - SNIPPING TOOL
Find the SNIPPING TOOL in Windows installed apps, pin to taskbar, and start snipping! One of my Favorites!
WORD - SAVE AS PDF
If you don't want your WORD document to be altered when other people open it - SAVE IT AS A PDF! It's so easy to do!
PDF actually stands for Portable Document Format so the name tells you that it's meant for documents that are being sent. One of my pet peeves is when people send official documents to me in Word format. I'm always astounded that they aren't worried about the document being altered. On the reverse side of SAVE AS PDF is the most common question that I get asked - "How do I edit a PDF?" The main reason that I usually SAVE AS A PDF is so that my document can't be edited! Most people don't really understand that PDFs are not meant to be edited but that doesn't stop them from trying - or asking!
GOOGLE DOCS - CAPITALIZATION
Use CAPITALIZATION in GOOGLE DOCS to Change the Case of text with the click of a button! Never re-type the text again! This is definitely one of my Favorites!
EXCEL - FLASH FILL
This still blows my mind! EXCEL FLASH FILL is amazing!! Type a few words and EXCEL knows exactly what you want to do! Wow!! You can see why it's one of my Favorites!
GMAIL - PREVIEW PANE
Want a faster way to check your emails? Try the PREVIEW PANE in GMAIL and quickly preview your email messages!
POWERPOINT - LINK TO ANOTHER SLIDE
Here's my nod to Hurricane Harvey - LINK TO ANOTHER SLIDE in POWERPOINT and make your presentations interactive!
