It's VACATION time so let EXCEL do the work for you to add ALTERNATE ROW COLORS!
GOOGLE DOCS - Version History
With VERSION HISTORY in GOOGLE DOCS you'll never have to worry if you delete something. You can restore any version or make a copy of any version!
When you click on File and hover over Version History, you
can select Name Current Version. Naming the version makes it easier to find and
select it when you are scrolling through the Version History. If you select See
Version History and click on an entry from Version History, when you click on
the 3 dots, you can also Name the Version and leave it in the Version History.
Finally, another great option when you click on the 3 dots is the ability to
Make a Copy. This is really helpful because when you Restore a Version, you
lose the current version. With Make a Copy you can keep the current version and
still have a copy of a previous version.
GMAIL - INSERT FILES FROM DRIVE
In GMAIL use INSERT FILES FROM DRIVE for an easy way to share files.
I really like this way to share files because I always have my Gmail open and I'm using it all day so it's easier than having to go to my Google Drive, find the file, and share it from there. I also like to share files this way when I'm sharing with people outside my organization because the email comes from me and has my signature with my contact information. If you share from Google Drive, you can include a message but the email is sent by Google and does not have your email signature. Finally, this method is the best way to share a file again if you have previously shared it with someone. One of my co-workers asked me to share a file with him that I had already shared so I sent him an email and inserted the file from Drive.
TECH TREAT of the MONTH - MAY 2019
You don't have to go to Google Drive to share a file! SPRING into action with GMAIL and INSERT FILES FROM DRIVE!
GOOGLE SHEETS - COPY TO
NEW! In GOOGLE SHEETS you can COPY TO a New or Existing Spreadsheet now! Click the down arrow on the sheet tab and check it out!
GOOGLE SLIDES - EMBED PRESENTATION
It's so simple in GOOGLE SLIDES to EMBED a PRESENTATION that you'll think it's a JOKE, but it's not!
If you want to edit your presentation after it has been embedded, you open the Google Slides presentation and make the changes. It will automatically update wherever it is embedded. You don't have to go to the website or web page where it is embedded to update the presentation. Many websites have complicated ways to edit so this saves you from having to deal with the website editing process.
TECH TREAT of the MONTH - APRIL 2019
When you see how simple it is in GOOGLE SLIDES to EMBED a PRESENTATION, you'll think it's a JOKE, but it's not!
EXCEL - INSERT DROPDOWN LIST
Control what's entered in your EXCEL spreadsheet by inserting a DROPDOWN LIST.
GOOGLE SHEETS - DROPDOWN LIST
You're in LUCK! It's so easy to create a DROPDOWN LIST in GOOGLE SHEETS and control what can be entered in your sheet!
If you create your list on another sheet within the Google Sheet, you can hide the sheet with the list after you have created the dropdown. To hide a sheet, all you have to do is click the down arrow on the sheet tab and select Hide sheet. To unhide the sheet, click on the View tab and under Hidden sheets, select the sheet you want to unhide.
GOOGLE DOCS - PAINT FORMAT
You're going to love how easy it is to copy formatting in GOOGLE DOCS with the PAINT FORMAT tool!
After you select the formatting you want to copy, one click on the Paint Format tool allows you to select one piece of text or click and drag to select text that is all together. A double click on the Paint Format tool allows you to select multiple selections of text that are not together. After a double click, the Paint Format tool will stay on until you turn it off. To turn it off, press the ESC button or click one time on the Paint Format tool.
WORD - CHANGE CASE
CHANGE CASE in WORD really is a game changer and it's been hiding there for years! It's one of my Favorites!
EXCEL - FLASH FILL
FLASH FILL in EXCEL is mind blowing! Every time I use it, I'm amazed at how it will do all of the work for me! It's one of my Favorites!
GOOGLE CALENDAR - COPY OR DUPLICATE EVENTS
Stay up to date for the New Year by COPYING or DUPLICATING EVENTS in Google Calendar.
If someone shares their calendar with you, it's so
convenient to use Copy to Another Calendar to copy an event from their calendar
to your personal calendar. Duplicating an event is really helpful when you
don't want to make an event a repeating event because some of the details are
different. Sometimes you have meetings that are the same but they are on
different days with different guests. This is when it's so useful to be able to
Duplicate an event and change the date and the guest list but keep the meeting
information the same.
GOOGLE DRAWINGS - MAKE FLYERS
It's easy to MAKE FLYERS in GOOGLE DRAWINGS. Start by adjusting the Page Setup and you're ready to create!
You can also select Pixels instead of Inches, when changing the Page Setup. Using the Pixels setting makes it so easy to create headers for websites, such as Facebook and Twitter, or for Google Forms, Google Classroom, etc. Don't forget to save whatever you create as a PDF or as a Picture. All you have to do is click on File, then Download As, and select PDF, JPG, or PNG.
