Customizing the font list with MORE FONTS in GOOGLE DOCS makes life ROSY!
GMAIL - Pop-Out Windows
POP-OUT WINDOWS in GMAIL are the best! I use them all the time to make it easier to work in GMAIL!
Besides clicking the Full-screen symbol with the shift key for a Pop-Out Window, you can also click the Full-screen symbol alone. When you do this, it will open the Compose window larger and it will take up your full screen. This can be really helpful when you need more room to type or when you don't want the distraction of seeing other emails behind your Compose window.
GOOGLE SHEETS - Macros
Make your life easier and save time with MACROS in GOOGLE SHEETS!
A macro stays with the Google Sheets file where it was created. It can be used over and over again on any of the Sheets that are included with the Google Sheets file where it was created but it can't be used with another Google Sheets file. However, you can create the same macro in as many other Google Sheets files as you like. You can create up to 10 macros within a Google Sheets file. After you create a macro, you'll see the option to Manage macros and this is where you can delete a macro if you no longer need it.
GOOGLE SLIDES - Insert Audio
It's finally here! We can now INSERT AUDIO in GOOGLE SLIDES!
If you only want audio on the slide where you inserted it, you should select "Stop on slide change" in the Settings. Since your audio file has to be in Google Drive before you can insert it, make sure that you upload it before you go to insert audio. If you record your audio, simply save it to Google Drive. If you're looking for audio files online, there are lots of sites with free audio but I prefer YouTube Audio Library. It will download to your computer and then you can upload it to Google Drive. The awesome Google Slides theme that I used for this presentation is from SlidesMania.
GOOGLE CALENDAR - Calendar Graphics
GOOGLE CALENDAR has built in CALENDAR GRAPHICS that appear when you use specific words in the event title.
Since Google Calendar hasn't put out a list of all of the Calendar Graphics available, you can experiment with words to see if there is a graphic to go with them. For example, if you use the word "movie", there is no graphic, but if you use the word "cinema", you will see a graphic. Not all of the holidays have graphics - yet. Google is always updating so we could see some graphics added as time goes on. The advantage of using the Google Calendar app on your phone is being able to add the emojis. The other advantage is if you're in the Schedule view when using the app on your phone, you will easily see your graphics without having to click on the event.
GMAIL - Templates
GMAIL lets you turn frequent email messages into TEMPLATES to save you lots of time!
Templates in Gmail used to be called Canned Responses. They work the same way, they just have a new name! In addition to creating new templates, you can also edit existing templates, and delete templates. I had to do some deleting recently because I had so many templates that my list was really long. They were templates that I no longer needed but I'm sure that I'll be creating many more because I'm such a fan of templates. I use them all the time for everything from simple messages to detailed messages with links and images.
GOOGLE SHEETS - Fill Down
FILL DOWN in GOOGLE SHEETS will amaze you each time you use it!
If a single cell (no pattern) is selected, Fill Down will only repeat the cell contents. When you select cells with a pattern and Fill Down, you will see the pattern repeated. The exception to this is the memorized days of the week and months of the year. You only have to type one day of the week or one month of the year in a cell and when you Fill Down, the pattern will be repeated. This also works with dates and time. If you type a date or time in a cell and Fill Down, it will list the consecutive dates or times. Fill Down will always follow the format (and abbreviation, if used) of the original selected cell(s). Finally, Fill Down can also be used to fill right, fill left, and fill up. P.S. - Fill Down works to copy formulas, too!
GOOGLE DOCS - Type with Emojis
Have some fun in GOOGLE DOCS and TYPE with EMOJIS! It works in Google Slides and Google Drawings, too!
Check out each of the emoji categories to see the many emojis that are available. There are even circled and squared letters available under the "Enclosed" category. In addition to being able to change the size of the emojis, you can also change the color of the emoji letters. Even if you don't type with emojis, they are still a great source for graphics.
GOOGLE SLIDES - Paint Format
The PAINT FORMAT tool in GOOGLE SLIDES works great to copy formatting!
The Paint Format tool can also be used to copy the formatting on shapes and text in Google Slides. This is so helpful when you're trying to apply the same formatting throughout a slide presentation. The Paint Format tool is not exclusive to Google Slides. Look for it in Google Docs, Sheets, and Drawings, too, and use it to make your life easier!
GOOGLE SHEETS - Alternating Colors
It only takes 4 clicks to set up ALTERNATING COLORS in GOOGLE SHEETS! How easy is that?!
GMAIL - Create Contact Group (Label)
NEW! Create GMAIL Contact Groups, which are now called LABELS.
With this new way to add people to a Label, you can easily add a person to multiple Labels at the same time. You can also easily move them from one Label to another Label at the same time. When their Contact Card is open, put a check by all the Labels that you want them added to. If you're changing them from one Label to another, uncheck the old Label and put a check by the new Label.
TECH TREAT of the MONTH - AUGUST 2019
Getting ORGANIZED for a new school year? GMAIL CONTACT GROUPS are now LABELS and this is how you create them.
